We’re going international once more for this next review. Where exactly? It’s a country that’s known for being ‘the happiest country in the world’, the birthplace of that one telecommunications company that made indestructible mobile phones and of course, Santa’s ever faithful companions the Reindeer.

…Ok so that’s your educational side of the review done. If you hadn’t worked out where we mean, we meant Finland. And the band we’re reviewing today is high speed, rocking ‘n’ rolling quintet Rokets who have recently announced their new album ‘Bad Choices’, which will be released May 16th through Svart Records.

The particular track we’ve been treated to is the title track and (no pun intended here…), it wasn’t a bad choice to introduce us to what is expected to come from the said album. The description of ‘high speed rock n roll’ is clear in this song, with the energy being high from the intro. The style reminded me of Volbeat meets Royal Republic, punchy and quirky with its lyrics and playing style. There’s a nice solid rhythm section under the striking choruses and electric melodies, layered with some nice catchy vocals to create a single that will appeal to rock fans of all ages.

Whilst I will say it’s not exactly track that’s breaking boundaries and re-writing the world of rock music, it is a fun and somewhat simplistic track to listen to. It shows that sometimes you don’t need to fill a song with insane solos or crazy amounts of synths and effects to enjoy. Of course, I also feel like this will be one of the songs that get the energy pumping at live shows with its contagious levels of energy.

Overall, this track shows Rokets are ready to explode onto the scene with the next round of music and are going to ensure the fans become engrossed in their high energy antics. As mentioned, the title track isn’t a bad choice to tease the fans with what’s to come from the full record and Rokets are definitely one to keep an eye on if you like all things rock ‘n’roll.
